Vanessa Howard, MSW Intern
Location: Virtual
About Me:
Hi, I’m Vanessa Howard, a Master of Social Work intern passionate about helping people reconnect with themselves, navigate emotional challenges, and build lives that feel meaningful.
I specialize in supporting teens, young adults, and individuals who feel isolated, misunderstood, or overwhelmed by life’s transitions. I offer a warm, affirming space for clients to process trauma, strengthen self-worth, and develop healthier emotional responses.
My approach is compassionate and collaborative, rooted in trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and strengths-based therapy. I believe healing isn’t linear, and I strive to meet each client where they are with empathy, cultural awareness, and zero judgment. I’m especially passionate about walking with people on their self-love, mental health, and personal growth journeys—because I’ve been there, too.

IDEAL VACATION:
Somewhere peaceful and close to water—ideally a warm, coastal retreat where I can relax, reflect, and recharge with beautiful views, soulful music, and fresh food.
FAVORITE WAY TO UNWIND:
Listening to music and spending time in nature or kayaking when I need grounding.
a life-changing piece of advice you’ve received:
“Be the person you needed growing up.” That reminder helped me shift from survival mode into deeper self-acceptance.
skill you’re currently working on:
I’m learning how to set healthier emotional boundaries without guilt, and how to stay present with discomfort without reacting from it.
favorite part about being a therapist:
My lived experiences with adversity, emotional pain, and growth taught me the importance of being seen, heard, and understood. I became a social worker to be the person I needed when I was younger—and to help others feel less alone on their path to healing.
