Lindsay Gentner, LLPC Candidate
Location: Virtual & In-person in Ann arbor
You’ve spent your life showing up for others—on the front lines, in high-stakes moments, under pressure to perform—and maybe, somewhere along the way, you forgot how to show up for yourself.
Hi, I’m Lindsay – a human, a recovering people pleaser, and a mental health clinician. I’m also a former first responder, NCAA Division I athlete, childhood trauma survivor, and someone who understands the weight of stress, anxiety, and healing.
I’ve been there for others on their worst days, running toward danger when needed, and willingly risking my life for others. And, truth be told, I would do it all again. I’ve also survived childhood trauma, worked through it in therapy, and found healing on the other side. Peace and recovery are possible.
With a background in emergency services, I bring firsthand experience with trauma, stress, and uncertainty. If you’re a first responder, work in a high-stress environment, or feel burned out, I’m here for you. I’ll help you navigate these struggles, so life doesn’t feel so heavy, offering honest connection, lived experience, and genuine support to lighten the load.
Before my career as a first responder, I was a Division I NCAA athlete, battling performance anxiety and striving for perfection. Achieving excellence doesn’t have to come with constant pressure. Let me help you become the best version of yourself, on and off the athletic platform, so you can reach your goals without added stress.
I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your therapeutic goals!

FAVORITE WAY TO UNWIND:
Spending time with friends and family, working out, road cycling, coffee on my back deck, playing golf
a life-changing piece of advice you’ve received:
“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable.” -Brené Brown
skill you’re currently working on:
I am a certified CPGA golf professional, and I am currently working on my Coaching certification for advanced golfers through the CPGA.
favorite part about being a therapist:
When my clients are vulnerable and comfortable enough to share their fears, worries and struggles, I love seeing the hope in their eyes when they realize healing and peace are attainable and that I am right beside them cheering them on.
