Therapy for Kids, Teens, Young Adults and Families

Are you feeling overwhelmed by family dynamics, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, or unsure of how to help your child/yourself?

Maybe your child is having feelings large enough to qualify as additional household members.

Maybe every conversation with your teenager somehow becomes an argument, even when the original question was literally, “Do you want a snack?”

Maybe your family keeps getting stuck in the same patterns, everyone is overwhelmed, and nobody knows how to make things better without accidentally making them worse first.

Or maybe you are a young adult trying to understand who you are, what matters to you, and how you are somehow expected to manage relationships, responsibilities, emotions, and the general administrative burden of being alive all at once.

You do not need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. That is, quite literally, why therapy exists.

I support children, teens, young adults, and families navigating big emotions and behaviors, anxiety, depression, identity and values, grief, trauma, changing relationships, and major life transitions.

My practice is welcoming and affirming of people across identities, backgrounds, cultures, and family structures. There is no single correct way to be a person or a family, and I am not here to force yours into a version that looks better from the outside.

Our work might include building coping skills, improving communication, understanding what is underneath a behavior, processing difficult experiences, untangling family dynamics, or noticing the small wins that are easy to miss when everyone has been focused on what is going wrong.

I believe clients are the experts on their own lives. Children and teens may not always have the words to explain what is happening, but their feelings, behaviors, relationships, and play often tell us quite a bit. My job is to listen carefully, stay curious, and help make sense of what they are communicating without treating them like a problem that needs to be fixed.

I tailor therapy to each person’s age, developmental level, needs, values, personality, and lived experience. Because using the exact same approach with a seven-year-old, a seventeen-year-old, and an overwhelmed parent would be objectively strange.

My goal is to create a relationship where you or your child can show up honestly without worrying about being judged, corrected, or expected to perform therapy correctly.

Meaningful change rarely comes from doing everything perfectly. It comes from feeling understood, building connection, practicing new ways of responding, and taking the next manageable step.

Together, we will develop practical tools, strengthen relationships, and work toward changes that make sense for your actual life and your family’s values.

Areas I Support

I work with children, teens, young adults, and families experiencing:

  • Big emotions and difficulty regulating them

  • Anxiety and excessive worry

  • Depression and low mood

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma and difficult life experiences

  • Family conflict and communication challenges

  • Identity and values exploration

  • Life transitions and changing relationships

  • Behavioral concerns

  • Coping difficulties

  • Parent-child relationship challenges

My Approach to Therapy

I draw from several evidence-informed therapeutic approaches, including:

  • Play therapy skills

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT

  • Dialectical behavior therapy, or DBT

  • Acceptance and commitment therapy, or ACT

  • Motivational interviewing

  • Person-in-environment theory

  • Humanistic and person-centered approaches

In normal-human language, that means we may use conversation, play, creative activities, practical skills, reflection, and curiosity to understand what is happening and find strategies that fit.

You will not be expected to select the correct therapy acronym before arriving.

We will figure out what makes sense together.
