Therapy for Veterans, First Responders & High-Stress Professionals
William Poole III, LLC
Location: Virtual & In-persoN
Whether you’ve faced the high-stakes pressure of the front lines or the quieter, daily grind of trying to build a life in a demanding world, carrying that weight for too long can start to take a toll.
I work with active military, veterans, law enforcement, first responders, emerging adults, and other high-stress professionals who are used to functioning under pressure but may be feeling exhausted, disconnected, angry, stuck, or unsure of what comes next. That can look like trauma or moral injury, hypervigilance, a short fuse, emotional numbness, relationship strain, the loss of identity that can come after leaving a high-stakes role, or simply reaching a point where “just keep pushing” is not working anymore.
My approach is straightforward: no BS, no judgment, and no forcing you into some version of therapy that doesn’t fit. I read the room, meet you where you are, and keep the conversation real. We’ll use the strengths, grit, and experience you already have while building practical tools to help you move out of constant survival mode and into something that feels more intentional.
When the harder work comes up, whether that means processing trauma, navigating a major transition, rebuilding relationships, or figuring out who you are outside of the role you’ve always identified with, we do it at your pace. The goal is not to take away the parts of you that helped you survive or succeed. It is to help you have more control over when those parts need to show up, and when they don’t.
This work is personal for me, too. I’m an old grunt who found a new calling after being medically retired from the Army infantry. I know what it feels like to lose the identity and mission that once gave your life structure and be hit with the question of, now what? I know what it is like to carry heavy things quietly and to have to figure out what purpose looks like when the old version no longer fits.
I genuinely believe people can build a meaningful next chapter without pretending the last one didn’t matter. Whether you’re trying to find your footing in adulthood, adjust to life after service, manage the cumulative wear and tear of a demanding career, or reconnect with the people who matter to you, we can work toward something that feels more grounded, more connected, and more like your own life again.
You do not have to have it all figured out to start. If you are tired of carrying the weight alone, grinding through the day without a map, or wondering who you are outside of the uniform, the suit, the overalls, or the scrubs, let’s talk.

I specialize in helping men and women navigate high-stress lives, trauma, and major transitions. My focus is on supporting tactical professionals, military, veterans, and first responders in processing post-traumatic stress, moral injury, and hypervigilance, as well as young men and women fighting to find their direction. Whether you are transitioning out of a career, struggling to turn off 'fight-or-flight' mode, or trying to rebuild connection with your family, we will work to regulate your mind-body connection, reclaim your identity, and build a resilient path forward.

IDEAL VACATION:
My ideal vacation is watching the sunset on a white-sand beach with a beer in hand. Or riding atvs/utvs through the woods up north with my family.
FAVORITE WAY TO UNWIND:
I love to ride my motorcycle, four-wheelers, anything with a motor that goes fast or through rough terrain. I also love to go to the range and shoot a few rounds with my buddies.
a life-changing piece of advice you’ve received:
I was afraid to go for this career. In my mind, and in the minds of my peers at that time, I was getting old. The best advice I've received. "You're going to be older either way, and I think you could really help these men.” And here I am.
skill you’re currently working on:
Personal skill: I am increasing my mechanical knowledge. Professional skill: I am hoping to learn a great deal more about EMDR and complete my ITTI certification.
favorite part about BEING A THERAPIST:
The human brain is incredible, but let’s be honest, it can also be terrifying. It can be your best ally one day, and your absolute worst enemy the next. What’s wild is how deeply our minds and bodies are wired together; when one takes a hit, the other feels it. The good news is that the mental tools we use to pull people out of their darkest places are the exact same skills that help you level up and find your best self. Whether you’re trying to survive the storm or just trying to reach your peak, the strategy is the same.
